Via Adam Baskin: Gennadiy Golovkin sent a message to Canelo Alvarez and the fans at today’s weigh-in as he told them they knew who the “real champion is”.
The comment from Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs) was a shot at Canelo (57-2-2, 39 KOs), who was saved from two losses against him, thanks to the Nevada umpires who did their fighting in 2017 and 2018.
Golovkin believes he should have raised his hand in those two games, and today, he made it clear to fans that he is still bitter about it.
In the build-up to the fight, Golovkin did an admirable job of hiding his true feelings about those two wars, stating that he had no bad blood with Canelo and that the three-part fight was not. is personal to him.
Today, it is clear Golovkin has been moody the whole time because of his outrage over what happened to him in his two bouts with Canelo, and he intends to get the points on Saturday.
Golovkin looks great at 167 3/4 lbs compared to Canelo’s 167 1/2 lbs. Although Golovkin looks a bit tired from losing weight, that’s not nearly as bad for his recent bouts, as he has put on weight at 160.
“It’s not new. It’s the same as always,” Gennadiy Golovkin said when asked at the weigh-in about what he saw when he faced Canelo Alvarez in the head-to-head match.

“I think it’s an important fight for Canelo. Two losses in a row will make him clear. A loss to Golovkin would probably force him into a fourth fight with his opponent to try to avenge that loss,” said Chris Mannix. DAZN’s JABS.
“I look at GGG and I see this fight as potentially legacy. Golovkin has been one of the biggest stars in boxing for over a decade.
“Ever since he came to America and started knocking guys on HBO and now on DAZN, he has become one of the most noticed figures in the boxing world.
“If you look at his background, it’s not one of the strongest. You have people like Daniel Jacobs there. It was probably his best win. David Lemieux, it’s a fight for the world championship. It was another quality win when that fight hit.
“Then you look at his track record, and there aren’t many Ws next to the big names. You could certainly argue that Golovkin deserved to win the first match against Canelo. There was at least one bad scorecard in that fight. He was probably robbed of a decision there.
“He doesn’t understand. He lost, I think, quite a bit in the second game against Canelo. He needs this victory to truly establish himself as one of the great warriors of this generation.
“He is definitely one of the most interesting guys. He’s been a knockout artist since he got a pair of boxing gloves, but in terms of background, in terms of legacy, I think he needs this win.
“If he loses to Canelo, he will leave and maybe retire. Will he get into the Hall of Fame? Probably. I think his resume is a bit thinner. while Canelo, even if he loses, he is still in his 30s. He still has time to perfect his resume in the next few years. For Golovkin, this could be his last shot,” Mannix said.
