Giambattista Valli impresses with high fashion outing in Paris
Giambattista Valli went full throttle for her eponymous brand Paris fashion show Monday night, mark 10 years of the official French haute couture calendar by sending mountains of tulle and billowing trains to spin under bright lights, and the gazes of cheering fans.
Models flying off the party’s shiny wall of balloons – pink flamingos perched on rainbow ponies – wore large cat-eye sunglasses and side braids. They lifted their skirts as they crossed the runway and circled the reflective columns while a robotic camera rolled back and forth.

The silhouette is rich and varied, with variable volume. Sleeves bulge off the shoulders and skirts are molded wide, layered like layered cakes, or fitted, then suddenly burst out at the bottom in yellow, pink, or turquoise.
In a nod to her signature hairpin dresses, Valli sent out a shimmering silver bodysuit with white ostrich feather rings around her legs.
“It’s like the generosity of a hug. It is a hug of flowers, a hug of feathers, a hug of tulle. Have all these bouquets hug you; It was a joy to share happy times together,” Valie told Reuters.
The collection is for living in the present moment, he explains. “I don’t look too much into the future or the past,” he said. “I think this is the big lesson from the last few years.”
Popular on social media and known for serving red carpet sets, the brand has financial backing from the Pinault family that owns Groupe Artemis. It expanded its consumer base with a partnership with H&M in 2019.
Valli trotted down the runway to bow, stopping to say hello to Bianca Brandolini, a pink dress model with a hooded cape.
After the show, guests including Robbie Williams and Olivia Palermo flooded backstage.
