Coolmore Australia has announced that Shinzo (Australia)Snitzel's (Aus) Golden Slipper winning colt and last season's champion two-year-old colt, will begin his stud training career at their esteemed facility in 2024. Service fees of this colt is A$55,000 (GST included).
Shinzo, an extraordinary talent all over the track, won the G1 Golden Boot in an astonishing display of acceleration, beating Group 1 winners Cylinder (Aus) (Exceed And Excel { Aus}), Militarize (NZ) (Dundeel {NZ}), and Little Brose (Aus) (Per Incanto {USA}). Colts dominated the finish line in the A$5 million juvenile feature that year, with King's Gambit (Aus) (I Am Invincible {Aus) trained by Peter and Paul Snowden) finishing second three ahead of his stablemates Don Corleone (Aus) (Extreme Choice {Aus}) and Empire Of Japan (Aus) (Snitzel {Aus}).
This win earned him a Timeform rating of 120, making him the highest rated two-year-old of the season.
Shinzo's victory gave Chris Waller the Golden Boot victory that, up to that point, had eluded the Champion Trainer, and was also the first success in the race for the jockey Englishman Ryan Moore.
“He is a very special horse and we knew very early on when he came into our system,” Waller said. “He has a great temperament and is the most naturally gifted two-year-old I have ever coached. Combined with his impressive physique and pedigree, he stands out as an exceptionally desirable stallion prospect.”
A blueblood, his dam Samaready (Aus) (More Than Ready {USA}), who took out the G1 Blue Diamond S. in 2012, was followed by the G1 Moir S. in third and also placed on Golden Slipper., also produced Shinzo's full sister Exhilarates (Aus). Raced by Godolphin, Exhilarates is a multiple stakes winner and was outstanding in the R. Listed Magic Millions 2YO Classic in 2019.
Furthermore, Shinzo's daughter, More Than Ready, has been a source of outstanding speed in the juvenile, having produced two Slipper winners –Phelan Ready (Aus) and Sebring (Aus).
Coolmore Australia principal Tom Magnier also expressed excitement about the addition of Shinzo to their roster.
“Snitzel is a four-time champion two-year-old sire and one of the greatest stallions we have seen in Australia in the modern era,” Magnier said.
“We are delighted to welcome his kindest and most nurturing two-year-old son at school. The Golden Slipper has an unprecedented track record in siring racing, and Shinzo possesses all the qualities we look for in a promising sire, with an impeccable pedigree and stunning good looks. unbelievable.”
Reflecting on Shinzo's journey, Magnier shared: “We had a great group of partners involved in his ownership and his Golden Boot win is one of my fondest memories on racetrack. Bred and raised at Coolmore, he has been a special horse since the day he was born and we look forward to welcoming him back.”
