Good weekend letter to the editor: June 24
Marcia Langton’s frustration with the Voice referendum [June 17]. If only her words of respect could become the yardstick for the argument to go, it’s likely that her 3-2 scoreline would materialize. One can live in hope.

Another great Dicey Theme with the extraordinary and intelligent Marcia Langton. Which leads me to my somewhat wistful question, “When can we reserve a table in a decent bookstore and buy the book? Best of Dicey Topics Vol.1?”

I think I have come to understand Marcia Langton generously and supportively over the years, after an earlier naive (and ignorant) assessment of her as primarily a “bomber” (figuratively speaking). , not literally). But that Dicey Subject interview sealed my understanding of a wonderful, generous, knowledgeable, intellectual, and (most importantly) caring person. She has dramatically restored my optimism about the possibilities of human nature. Many, many thanks to Benjamin Law, and especially to Marcia. I can’t imagine a better way to start my weekend.

Good food
With a foodie partner, I read restaurant reviews every weekend and most of us give it a try, but we’ll definitely give it a go De Thanh Street in Fitzroy, Melbourne. Not because the food review sounded delicious, but because of the emotion and heart in Besha Rodell’s words, which brought tears to my eyes on my second reading for the culinary partner. Yarra locals, visitors to Brunswick, do what we do best, support our hardworking communities. As Besha said, “Make it happen.”

Modern guru
I’ve been meaning to write many times, but Danny Katz’s latest work [June 17} has pushed me over the edge. Twenty-four hours later, I’m still laughing at the thought of those happy pegs lining up to take their turn at experiencing the joy of hanging up the laundry.

That’s what I would call level-pegging, being hung out to dry by Mr Katz [June 17]!

How one hangs laundry to dry is a particularly important topic, but Modern Guru’s suggestion, despite the effort, is not quite right. The correct procedure is to use the color coding system as you suggest, but hang women’s clothes (i.e. my wife’s) in RED [or pink] latch and use blue pegs for men [ie mine] clothes. Other colored dowels should be used for non-gender washes: towels, etc.

I also color-matched my pegs when doing laundry in the early ’80s. I was eventually banned from doing laundry. And treated. Now I am cleansed.

I can totally relate to the letter writer featured in Modern guru, because I also feel compelled to color coordinate my hangers – but what a great inspiration was Simon Leitch’s illustration of a rainbow crochet: problem solved and at the same time I can take pride in my laundry.
