Chris Wright’s Group 1 Double Winner Great night (Fr) (Le Havre {Ire}) will visit the king of champions Frankel (GB) for her first cover of the year, trainer David Menuisier reported on Twitter on Monday. The 5-year-old mare joined Wright’s broodmare band at Stratford Place Stud in the Cotswolds.
Second-place winner Wonderful Tonight moved ahead in third, winning the G3 Prix Minerve in August 2020 before ending the season with a Group 1 double in the Prix de Royallieu and G1 British Champions Fillies & Mares S.
Starting a four-year-old campaign last year against the G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, Wonderful Tonight beat Royal Ascot’s G2 Hardwicke S. and Glorious Goodwood’s G2 Lillie Langtry S. before finishing fourth in the G1 Yorkshire Oaks . Wright and Menuisier’s Arc dream went up in smoke when Wonderful Tonight broke a vent tube during practice three weeks after the race and had to retire.
