Guelph mayor and CAO issue joint statement on death of Queen Elizabeth II – Guelph
The City of Guelph released a joint statement from Mayor Cam Guthrie and CAO Scott Stewart regarding the death of Mr. Queen Elizabeth II.
It writes that on behalf of the City of Guelph, they offer their deepest condolences to the Royal Family.
The bulletin went on to say that the queen visited Guelph on July 2, 1959, and it was considered a pivotal moment for the city.
It says that Guelph was nicknamed the Royal City after the Guelph lineage of the Royal Family, and that it has been connected to the monarchy since its founding.
The statement concluded that flags at the town hall and other facilities would be lowered to half-mast and that details of any further operations would be released as they became available.
