Gwendoline Christie’s Sandman Lucifer and the Lucifer show are the same

There’s so much to enjoy By Netflix Sand sellers series. The show is good! Very good comics! It’s rich with alluding to a lot of meat ripe for discovery. It’s a story with intriguing mysteries and great messages.

It also creates a great situation for me personally, one where I can point out that the TV show’s Lucifer Lucifer and Lucifer’s Sand sellers are the same characters.

And I don’t mean for the Bible.

In case you are not familiar with Luciferit was a play starring Tom Ellis that ran for three seasons on Fox and three others on Netflix. And if you’re familiar with the show it’s the procedural equivalents, supernatural drama and love storyyou still may not know about its connection to DC Comics’ Sand sellers.

Lucifer is a work of its own, but its central frame – that Satan is tired of ruling in hell and quits his job to run a piano bar in Los Angeles – is the rule of DC Comics. And the story that makes that DC Comics rule is in the pages of Sand sellers.

[Ed. note: Spoilers for The Sandman comic, I guess? It’s… very old, though.]

Viewers who finished watching the first part of Sand sellers on Netflix remaining Lucifer – played by Gwendoline Christie – swear revenge on the lord of dreams for making her look like a vampire in front of every demon in hell. Lucifer even has a plan, and in the comics, we know exactly what that is.

It was to give up the rule of hell and open a piano bar in Los Angeles. The revenge part is where he gives Dream the key to hell, making him the owner of a piece of metaphysical real estate so valuable that other entities are willing to threaten his life for it – this starts most of the plot of Sand sellersthird part of the story. But that’s beside the point, it’s the DC Universe’s Lucifer tickling in the City of Angels all for Gaiman’s sake. Sand sellers.

Lucifer the TV series never wore its origins up its sleeve – it was a case of “inspired by the DC Universe” rather than “based on the DC Universe”. There have been several Lucifer spin-off series in the DC Universe, but none have been particularly similar to the show. (My hobbies is 2015 Lucifer, in which he was forced to investigate the murder of God.) Instead, the show garnered cult status by confidently flaunting the line, “One of them was a police detective, who the other is the cheeky and secretive piano bar owner Satan. They solve crimes… and love???? ”

Like Polygon reviewers describe it, the show is “the story of an angel who rebelled against God and was sent to hell for his crimes, and the mortal female detective was immune to his demonic charms. At the beginning of the story, the cases that Chloe and Lucifer solve are almost all human-to-human violence, with no demons or bad guys in the Bible. The main conflict is whether Chloe will discover that Lucifer is in fact the devil, not just some rich guy living in an odd fantasy. ”

By the end of the show’s final season, it had blossomed into a bold and loving meditation on forgiveness and change, stating that “sometimes fate is malleable, and sometimes fate feels Seeing as a punishment is actually a blessing. But that’s not true for people who aren’t open to self-improvement and self-reflection, as Lucifer did. ”

Lucifer find an audience by everything possible, from a silly mess to a dramatic will-they-won’t-they. And that’s why there’s no reason to point out its origin in Sand sellers. I don’t need Christie’s Lucifer to fight Ellis’ Lucifer for supremacy – unless it’s in a Rabbit Roger-style battle piano.

But I would like to see them as tall as five.
