Half of India’s adult population is fully immunized against Covid disease: Health minister

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said more than 50% of India’s eligible adult population is now fully immunized against COVID-19, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Sunday as The cumulative dose of vaccine used in this country exceeds 127.61 crore.
According to Union Health Ministry officials, more than 84.8% of the adult population in India has received the first dose.
“Congratulations to India. It’s an incredibly proud moment as more than 50% of the eligible population is now fully vaccinated. Together we will win the battle against COVID-19.” Mandaviya says.
According to the provisional report until 7am, with the administration of 1,04,18,707 doses of vaccine in 24 hours, the total dose of COVID-19 vaccine provided in the country has exceeded 127.61 crore.
The ministry said it achieved this through 1,32,44,514 sessions.
The nationwide vaccination campaign was launched on January 16 with health workers being vaccinated in the first batch. Vaccination for frontline workers (FLWs) started February 2.
The next phase of the COVID-19 vaccine begins March 1 for people over 60 years of age and people 45 years of age and older with specified comorbid conditions.
The country launched vaccination for all people over 45 years old from April 1.
The government then decided to expand the vaccination campaign by allowing everyone over the age of 18 to be vaccinated from 1 May.
