He was killed when they wanted his car. Skeleton found 4 months later
Jamshedpur:
Police today recovered a human skeleton believed to be that of an app taxi driver who went missing nearly four months ago, from a forest in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district of Jharkhand.
Family members of Rahul Srivastav, 22, registered a missing report at MGM police station on August 2 after he failed to return home and on October 3, a Section 365 case of the IPC (kidnapping or abducting a person with the intent to wrongfully detained) has been sued against unidentified persons, said Inspector and Director in Charge Mithilesh Kumar.
On Tuesday, police arrested a 22-year-old suspect identified as Sudhir Kumar Sharma and his accomplice Rabindra Mahato, 21, for questioning.
Police said Srivastav’s mobile phone was also in Sharma’s possession.
During questioning, he said the duo confessed to killing the app taxi driver by hitting him on the head with a rock near the Chandil Dam in the district, with the intention of selling the vehicle, police said.
They are then said to have left the body in the woods and fled with their car and mobile phone.
Based on their statement, a police team found the skeleton from the forest.
The defendant, who has been in judicial custody, reportedly received an advance from a potential car buyer, he said.
Further investigation is underway.
