Heavy rains hit parts of Bengaluru again on Monday evening, causing flooding and traffic jams extending for several kilometers.
The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has warned of water supply disruptions in some parts of the city today and tomorrow.
The board has arranged free temporary tankers. These will be provided to areas where tap water has been discontinued.
Minister Basavaraj Bommai will visit the TK Halli unit of the Bengaluru Water Board in Mandya district, which will manage the supply of drinking water to Bengaluru due to water entering the unit after heavy rain on Sunday night.
“The chairman of the BWSSB, engineers and the secretary of the urban development department have been sent to the unit. Mandya district officials are busy in draining water from the pumping station. The situation is expected to be resolved. control in the evening. The group engineering department is working on emergency mode to restart the machines. I will visit and give necessary instructions,” Mr. Bommai told ANI news agency.
Several lakes in the city have overflowed and storm drains have flooded, affecting low-lying areas and flooding homes.
Bengaluru is home to companies like Amazon, Flipkart and Wipro, all of which run logistics and other operations from there.
City companies complain that the city’s infrastructure development has not kept pace with prolonged traffic jams and that unplanned construction on dry lake beds leads to frequent flooding. even with moderate rain.
