Hennessey ready to Venom F5 loosely in the hands of its customers.
The American tuner’s chief engineer ticked the turbocharged V8 F5 after hitting 437 km/h – no, that’s not a typo, four hundred and thirty-seven – during the final validation run together. Production according to 24 customer orders will begin.
While 437km/h is not what you would call slow, the Venom F5 is said to be able to go even faster.
The company told Top gear it is chasing 300mph (482km/h) with the F5, but it needs an even longer runway to get there. Stay tuned, we can obviously expect an attempt by the end of 2022.
Behind the passenger compartment in the Venom, which drives the rear wheels through a seven-speed semi-automatic transmission, is a 6.6-liter 90-degree twin-turbo V8 with cast iron block and aluminum cylinder head.
Hennessey claims the maximum performance of the V8 with 1355kW at 8000 rpm and 1617Nm.
Thanks to the lightweight carbon fiber unibody shell, weighing only 86kg, the car weighs only 1360kg.
Hennessey says the car can complete the 0-100km/h run in less than 3 seconds and needs just 4.7 seconds to hit 200km/h.
The powertrain is available in five user-selectable powertrain styles: Sport, Track, Drag, Wet and F5. Only F5 mode unleashes the full potential of the 6.6-liter V8.
The F5 rides on 19-inch wheels at the front with 265/30 Michelin Pilot Cup Sport 2 tires and a 20-inch rim with 345/30 rubber at the rear.
Measuring 4666mm long and 1971mm wide, the Venom F5 has a drag coefficient of 0.39. The car’s passive aerodynamics have been tuned to provide enough downforce at high speeds.
The cabin features two carbon fiber bucket seats with plenty of leather upholstery for a bit of comfort.
Much of the interior is trimmed in carbon fiber with a glossy finish and there are aluminum and Muirhead leather accents on the doors and dashboard, as well as faux leather for the front end.
In front of the driver is a cockpit-like design with a racing-style steering wheel and a 7.0-inch digital instrument display. In the center of the dashboard is a 9.0-inch Alpine touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
