With Tyson Fury calling out Anthony Joshua on social media, momentum for the all-Bristish heavyweight showdown has started to build again.
Print recent weeks Fury has twice repeated claims that he will come out of ‘retirement’ for the AJ fight, but under one condition – it must be on free-to-air television:
“Mr Businessman, he’s not a fighting man.”
“I swear to God I hope he wins the fight against Usyk so I can come out of retirement and fight him for free.”
“However, the terms are this: I want it at Wembley Stadium, I want it free to enter and I want it free-to-air television in this country.”
With renewed talk of the potential showdown a Fight Hype TV interview with Mike Tyson discussing the potential bout has resurfaced.
When asked how he sees a fight between the two Brits going, the former heavyweight champ said:
“You know I love Joshua but I think Tyson’s too elusive and he’s [Joshua] not gonna hit him.”
‘Iron’ Mike added that Joshua’s speed, or lack of, could be his downfall:
“Listen we’re keeping it honest right, I like Joshua a lot right, maybe he punches harder than Wilder – but he doesn’t punch faster than Wilder.”
“If he doesn’t punch faster than a Wilder he’s not going to f*****g touch this guy and that’s just what I see.”
“He [Joshua] punches hard but he doesn’t punch fast, if Tyson Fury can get away from Wilder’s fast punches –
Joshua might be in trouble”
Before any possibility of a Fury-Joshua fight, AJ must overcome first his toughest challenge to date. The Brit is already in Saudi Arabia for his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk on August 20 as he bids to win his titles back.
