Hi-Res music service Qobuz expands into Latin America and Portugal
Hi-Res music platform born in France Qobuz expanded its service to six new countries: Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Chile and Portugal
Today’s news brings the total number of countries available to Qobuz to 25.
Qobuz says the expansion is “an opportunity for 470 million music lovers and audiophiles around the world to have access to an alternative streaming service.”
Qobuz says it has raised $23 million to date, including a 10 million euro round secured in September 2020and raised 12 million euros in August 2019.
Based on IFPI Global Music Report 2022 – State of the IndustryLatin America achieved a growth rate of 31.2%, becoming one of the countries with the highest growth rates globally.
Streaming accounts for 85.9% of this market, says IFPI.
In 2021, Qobuz launches AustraliaNew Zealand and Nordic countries.
The company also acquired the Japanese high-resolution e-onkyo music download service in October Year 2021.
same year, Qobuz partners with French digital music distributor TuneCore to make music from its artist list available on a high-resolution streaming and download service.
