Starting in iOS 16, when released later in 2022, the Recently Hidden and Deleted photo albums will prompt for your passcode to view the content.
Delete old screenshots
While tapping the Albums section in the Photos app and scrolling down to Hidden, you may notice other media types that the app automatically separates for you. Deleting old screenshots or screen recordings by tapping on those sections can be a simple way to free up more space. It’s also a quick way to get rid of the random junk that clutters up a memory library.
Remove apps from the home screen (without removing them)
I’m a minimalist with an app problem. I love trying new apps, especially writing and to-do apps, but I quickly find I have dozens of home screens or need to manage dozens of folders filled with apps. Instead, I removed them from view.
If you press and hold an app and select Uninstall appsa dialog will give you the option Delete apps or Remove from home screen. If you remove an icon from your home screen, it will still appear in the App Gallery (swipe left until you reach the App Gallery). You can always add it back to the home screen later by doing the reverse. Find the app in the App Gallery, long press on it, then select Add to home screen.
Rearrange the Home screen by Seconds, not Hours
Similarly, if you want to arrange the home screen layout, you can move the entire screen of the applications without moving the individual icons. On the Home screen, touch and hold the dots at the bottom representing the number of screens you have. The icons will wiggle for a moment, and then you’ll see all your home screens. You can deselect the ones you don’t want to see anymore, or you can move each rectangle around to rearrange them.
Pin messages from friends so they don’t lose them
In Messages, if you touch and hold a group or individual message, several options will pop up, including Pin. Select it, and that message thread will be stuck at the top, above all other messages, including new incoming ones. You can do this with several people or groups, and this makes it easier for you to find the people you talk to the most.
Quickly lock your phone for extra security
If you’re worried about being forced by the authorities to unlock your phone with biometrics, there’s a quick way to disable Face ID and Touch ID. For iPhone 8 and later, press and hold the right button and either volume button at the same time for about two seconds.
Doing this will bring up a screen to power off the phone, view Medical ID, or access Emergency SOS. Opening this screen will also disable biometrics so your passcode needs to be re-entered to access the phone.
