As part of a sketch presentation return to Formula 1 with Red Bull, Ford teased what was supposed to be a one-off, high-performance version of it Lightning F-150 electric pickup.
Despite the fact that Blue Oval is ready to be hotter than this Lightning F-150It is unlikely that the production version will make it to the showrooms as it will only be a “performance demonstration”.
Ford has previously displayed a series of single-use electric vehicles that showcase the high performance potential of electric powertrains.
These means include the Ford Pro electric super car debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last year, Mustang Mach-E 1400 drift car, the Mustang Cobra 1400 jet towing, and F-100 Eluminator retro style pickup.
At this stage, it’s still unclear what this high-performance F-150 Lightning will look like and how much power it will generate.
The most powerful production version of the F-150 Lightning to date is the highest-end Platinum with a dual-motor setup producing 420 kW of power and 1050 Nm of torque.
“We are entering an exciting new era for Ford Performance,” said Ford CEO Jim Farley.
“We will compete to win F1, the pinnacle of motor sport, with Red Bull Racing. You’ll see the world’s most famous sports coupe, the Mustang, racing from grass racing to Australian Supercars, NASCAR to Le Mans.”

He added: “And will build our off-road lead in the World Rally Championship, King of Hammers and Baja 1000, etc.
“In the meantime, we will continue to excite the world with exciting demonstration vehicles like the SuperVan 4 and the Mustang Mach-E 1400.”
Ford recently detailed the 2023 model year update for the F-150 Lightning series brings some minor changes, including a wider range, a Ford Pro Special Service Vehicle package, and higher US prices.
The Ford US website now says the 2023 model is no longer available to order.

F-150 Platinum Lightning
In April last year, Ford said it had a total of 200,000 orders for the F-150 Lightning, aiming to increase its annual production rate to 150,000 this year.
Blue Oval has now invested more than $1 billion (US$1.44 billion) in Michigan for the F-150 Lightning alone, with 1700 jobs created in five Ford plants.
It’s unclear if the F-150 Lightning is coming, but Ford Australia has previously indicated it will bring at least five electrified vehicles by 2024. It also brings Gasoline-powered F-150 will hit the market in 2023.
Given the great demand in North America for the F-150 Lightning, don’t expect it to get here anytime soon.
