‘His talent is something really special’: Professional performer and designer Rohit Bal on Abhishek Sharma
His collection, titled ‘Crystalline Fern’, is inspired by the beauty of various crystalline mineral rocks and Indian ferns, which are combined to create varied textures with a wide range of colors. ranging from rose ash and crystal stone to opal, chalk, plaster and jade. Eye-catching textures are achieved through intricate printing, tailoring, as well as decoration.
The show opened with a detailed creation, embellished with black rubber tights and transitioned to maxis jackets, sarisMolded cummerbunds for gowns, long-sleeved, long-sleeve coats and options lehenga, choli, Dupatta triangle. The designer’s expertise with pleats is evident throughout the collection.
The performance ended with the surprising note that ace designer Rohit Balunder the auspices of Sharma, who worked for a decade before founding her eponymous label, strolling leisurely down the runway, wearing a white coat with baggy trousers and a top intricately decorated shirt with matching shawls.

Talking to Saran, Rohit Bal said of Sharma’s work, “I’ve been saying for the last 10-15 years that this is a really, really special talent. It is not something that comes into our lives every day, every year, or decades, even decades. “
