How Stephen Colbert Knows George Santos Is Definitely Going to Resign
On Wednesday night, Stephen Colbert caught up latest development around “the GOP congressman and the man who put air quotes around his entire life,” George Santos.
“Santos has a long history of distorting the truth by never speaking out,” Late The presenter explains, by presenting a new set of legal and ethical complaints against freshmen from New York. “It’s disappointing,” Colbert said. “I expect more from the man who invented the automobile.”
Colbert went on to suggest that “the walls appear to be closing” on Santos after local Republican officials began calling for his resignation. In response to this incredible rebuke from his own party, Santos told reporters on Capitol Hill that he ‘won’t’ step down. “Meaning, he will resign.”
He then emphasized the “rather extravagant” claim from Santos that he was one of the earliest cases of COVID-19 United States
“Think smart, Georgie,” Colbert said, imagining the congressman saying to himself, “Everybody hates me, I know how to get them back! I will tell them that I am patient zero.”
