How to Defeat Margit The Fell Omen – Elden Ring Master Guide
Margit The Fell Omen is the first mandatory boss you’ll encounter in the Elden Ring. You’ll find his mist gate inside the Castleward Tunnel, which begins at the top of Stormhill, the wind-swept land northeast of the starting area called Limgrave. The hammer-manager is aged but agile and poses a more significant threat to slower melee-focused players, especially those at lower levels. If you’re still trying to figure out how to beat Margit The Fell Omen, we’ve got you covered. In this Elden Ring boss guide, we’ll show you how to find a unique item to make the fight that much easier.
What is Margit’s Shackle?
I do not recommend against Margit until you level up your main weapon at least twice. Also, remember to call the Sorcerer Rogier before going into battle. His golden summon sign is located to the right of the floor in front of the mist gate. However, if you need a more substantial advantage, you’ll have to unlock Margit’s Shackle, a reusable item that you can activate twice during the boss’ early stages.
This method also prevents Margit from damaging your Sorceror Rogier or Spirit Summons too early in the match, ensuring you get extra damage throughout the second phase of the boss battle.
How to find Margit’s cuffs
You can buy Margit’s Shackle from an optional merchant named Patches for 5,000 Runes, but only after you fight and spare him inside the Murkwater Cave. To find Murkwater Cave, head up the ravine starting at the northeastern boundary of Lake Agheel (beware of the monster guarding the shallows).
After defeating the group of skeletons below the bridge, continue up the river and prepare to take on the Bloody Finger Nerijus, an invading NPC who causes a strong bleed effect with his two daggers. Carefully dodge Nerijus’ attacks until Bloody Finger Hunter Yura joins the fray and offers to assist, or cast your greatsword in Fire Grease and unleash the Ash of War on him like I did. After defeating Nerijus, look towards the riverbank for the entrance to Murkwater Cave, marked with a torch.
Once inside, rest at the Site of Lost Grace and defeat the thieves in the next room. The cave interior splits into two passages – go the right way, and you’ll find the yellow mist gate signifying the battle with Patches (I’m afraid to call him boss). Go through the mist and open the treasure chest next to the campfire. Patches will announce themselves from higher up in the cave before jumping down to start the fight. Do not use your soul summon as you will need to stop attacking the Patch midway.
When there was almost half of his health left, Patches would surrender and beg for mercy. After forgiving him, the friendly NPC will now tell you to visit his new item shop later. Run back to the Site of Lost Grace at the entrance to the cave, rest and return to Patches’ chamber. The sly merchant will now sell you some valuable goods, but most importantly Margit’s Shackle.
Time to DDD-Duel
After returning to the Castleward Tunnel, summon the Sorcerer Rogier to assist you, make your way through the mist, and begin the battle with Stormveil’s nasty steward. This time, save your Spirit Summons for later use. Margit usually starts by throwing two glowing daggers, just dodging rolling into the street. If he’s focused on you, note the quick turns he uses in quick succession. Margit gasped after a series of attacks – this is the time to activate Margit’s Shackle.
A seal of holy light will stun Margit, ground, and leave him open to a barrage of attacks. Deal enough damage this lock, and you’ll make the boss wobble, opening a window for an easy critical hit. Remember: you can cast Margit’s Shackle twice before the second boss stage, so repeat the locking process again.
When there is 60% health left, Margit will draw her divine Kirkhammer, starting the second part of the fight. When he starts talking to you again, you’ll have time to summon your spirit friends. I recommend the Lone Wolf Ashes or the Godrick Soldier Ashes, which you can find in the jellyfish cemetery west of Stormhill. You won’t have much time between Margit’s four combo attacks, so focus on dodging and healing until he hits the ground with his staff or hammer, then lash out. punish him. Rinse and repeat.
After winning you will get access to Stormveil Castle, the first legacy dungeon in the Elden Ringand the Amulet Bag allows you to equip an additional amulet.
