How to Delete Your Google Account—After Downloading All of Your Data First
Delete digital account that you rarely or never use not only reduces the amount of clutter in your online life—it also makes you safer. Every additional account you have is an additional target for hackers, an additional database that can be leaked, and an additional way for someone to access a larger number of accounts , more important than yours. If you want to minimize risk, open only the accounts you need.
When it comes to deleting one Google account, the process isn't difficult or time-consuming, and Google will even let you download your data first. Remember that deleting your Google account wipes out everything associated with your Google username, from emails in Gmail, to places you've saved in Google Maps, to files you've saved to Google Drive.
It's also important to note that Google turn off account automatically if they have not been used for two years, mainly for the security reasons we mentioned. Download your data
Go your Google account page on the web and you will see one Data and privacy link on the left: Click here to see an overview of all the data Google has about you (probably more than you realize). To get your data off Google's servers and onto your local computer, follow this Download your data link towards the bottom of the page.
The next screen allows you to choose the type of data you want to export. It includes data from all Google apps and services, including browsing history saved in Chrome, Google Calendar appointments, photos and videos in Google Photos, videos you've uploaded to YouTube, and your Google Chat logs. It shows you all the data that will be deleted when you delete your Google account.
For busier Google accounts, there can be a huge amount of material here. Use the checkboxes to select the categories of data you want to download: Select all And Deselect all The options at the top may be helpful. Some items in the list have options below to let you choose between different export formats and select specific sub-pieces of data (such as activity categories in Google Fit) to download.
When you are satisfied with your selection, click Next step button. Then you have to choose how you want to download it. You can receive the download link via email or send the archive straight to your cloud storage account. You can also set up periodic downloads of selected data, which you won't want to do if you're deleting your Google account.
