People want to replace social media long before Elon Musk bought Twitter and became full Chaos Mode. How to register
- Download Hive Social from Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
- Open the app and tap the read button Create an account.
- On the next page, choose whether you want to create an account with your email address or phone number. You can also create an account with your Apple or Google login.
- You may then need to enter a security code sent to your phone number or email address.
- The following page asks for your date of birth.
- Next, choose a display name and username. (Consider your username the equivalent of your Twitter username, even though it’s not unique to your account.)
- Choose three or more topics that interest you, such as anime, technology, and horror.
- Clap start exploring to find and follow people you like.
- Select the tab with the honeycomb icon to see posts from people you follow. The magnifying glass icon is where you can find posts from the community or find followers. The middle tab is for composing your own posts. The next tab at the bottom is notifications. And the one on the right is for your profile.
Tips to get you started
- If you’re having trouble signing up via email, try using your phone number instead.
- Adult content is allowed, but you must enable it first. Go to your profile page, tap the settings gear, select Privacy & Safetythen touch Content intended for adults navigation. The transition needs to be on the right. Any nudity posted needs to be tagged as NSFW.
- On the Privacy & Safety page, you can make your account private so it’s visible only to your followers. This is also where you can mute specific words, control who is allowed to comment on your posts, and block accounts.
- From the settings page, tap Music to choose whether songs on your profile page should autoplay. Think of it as your prelude music. First song selection is free to add. Multiple song slots are available for purchase.
- Tap the question mark icon seen on each other’s followers’ profiles to ask them a public question.
- When you’re editing your profile, you can set your pronouns to be visible only to specific audiences.
- You may be familiar with Twitter’s photo limit which limits the number of photos in a post to 4. Hive allows users to add more than 4 images to a post in the gallery.
- Make sure to use the hashtag if you want your post to show up in the explore tab.
