Why we like the iHealth Covid-19 antigen rapid test
The iHealth Covid-19 test works like any standard home kit. It’s also one of the easier to use of the many that we’ve tested in Instructions for Quick Check at Home Covid-19. Inside the box, you will receive two nasal swabs, two vials of solution, and two rolls of test tape. Taking a test is simple. Scan both nostrils to collect the sample, immerse the sample in the solution, place three drops in the tray and wait 15 minutes for the results to appear on the card.
If the result is positive, two lines will appear on the band-one next to the “C” (control) line and the second next to the “T” (test line). If the result is negative, a line will appear next to the letter “C.” Since each pack contains two tests, if the test is negative, you should test again within 24 to 48 hours, especially if you have recently been in contact with someone who tested positive. Once the test is complete, you’ll be able to upload your results to the iHealth companion app. With a negative test result, the app will give you access to the iHealth card on your device to use as digital proof.
If you buy Covid test kits in bulk, be sure to store them properly — out of direct sunlight and in a dry place where the temperature is between 35 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit. You should also keep track of the dates. expired. iHealth recently extended the shelf life of its test kits nine months; you can check the new term of each test set by the last batch number iHealth’s site. It’s also important to make sure you use the included test box within an hour of opening the foil pouch.
Note: In May, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning that counterfeit versions of the iHealth Covid-19 Antigen Rapid Test kits are not authorized for sale in the US. The image on the Instruction Manual booklet that comes with some fake versions is a little different from the genuine version. Both iHealth and the FDA are currently in the process of finding additional telltale signs to look for. The link we have shared here with Amazon provided to us by iHealth and is the FDA approved version.
