Via Dan Ambrose: Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman took to social media on Tuesday on his 33rd birthday to talk about his “return” in 2022 and will be ready to take on the champions.
Former WBA/WBC Welding Champion Thurman (29-1, 22 KOs) is aiming for a title shot against Terence Crawford in his first bout back next year, and he’s poised to reclaim the throne with as the No. 1 boxer at 147th.
Thurman will need to make boxing fans believe in him again, as he has previously said about returning but then failed to back up his words.
Keith is struggling to get started
Thurman was supposed to return to the ring in 2021, but that didn’t happen. Now, Thurman is saying he’ll be back in mid-2022. Is he serious or is this a heartless lie from a boxer who threw his career away for being inactive for four years via.
‘One Time’ doesn’t say why he needs 8 months before he’s ready to fight again, as he doesn’t look overweight right now.
But apparently, it was all part of the inertia that grabbed him and pulled him down. Thurman was like someone being pulled inward by the intense gravity of a black hole in space.
Unfortunately, Thurman is lacking the escape speed needed to get off his backside to get back into action as normal fighters. You could argue that if Thurman does not escape inertia now have him, it will be too late.
It may be too late. He looked washed-out in his last two bouts against Manny Pacquiao and Josesito Lopez.
Many boxing fans have abandoned Thurman as he has been out of the ring for 28 months since his last fight with Manny Pacquiao in July 2019.
Thurman says he was inspired by Crawford
Keith Thurman said on social media on Tuesday: “I’m still at the top of the weight class. “I don’t want to be a champion, and I don’t need a belt. I eat better without a belt.
“And I am always hungry without a belt,‘ Thurman continued. “I will be right back at the top. Look at it again; what time is it? There’s no one here but the champion. Oh, we’ll be back. Believe it, it’s more than just saying.
“Ask anyone who has been in the ring with Keith Thurman. I’m out here, I’m doing everything. If you don’t believe, I will make you believer.
“I had to watch Bud [Crawford] do what he says he will do. Come bring that fire and stop a man who never stops. Don’t put him down once, put him down twice.
“It inspires, it inspires,Thurman said, perhaps impressed by what 34-year-old older boxer Crawford did in stopping Porter. Thurman turned 33 on Tuesday.
“You woke me up. I’m here, I’m working. An hour on the spinning bike, and I’ve got my gloves on. Thurman talks about training for his comeback.”
The worrying thing for Thurman is that Crawford and Shawn Porter are both older than him at 34, but they’re doing more with their careers.
It was supposed to be Thurman fighting Crawford, but how could he? Thurman was stuck on the couch, worried about coming back, but then he never did.
NS The gravity of Thurman’s couch made him, and it will take an extraordinary effort to get him back before it’s too late.
Keith has an announcement to return soon
“We have my birthday and vacation [Thanksgiving], but I will focus on my diet,” Thurman said. “For me it was a chickpea casserole and some turkey and salad on the side. That’s what I have for Thanksgiving.
“I will keep it simple and spend time with my family. Not shoved in my face. Thurman said.
‘Where is he? What is he doing?’ This is where I am and everything is fine,” Thurman told him in a weight room late at night with no one around,” Thurman said.
“Listen, man, I’ll be back in 2022. We have a real announcement Early. That’s why your son is here to work. Weight management, in terms of points, does what I have to do.
“Gervonta Davis, it wasn’t even a real fight. [Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard] Ellerbe was just talking. It’s not even a real war, and it never will be a real war,” Thurman said.
It would have been better if Thurman hadn’t said anything to the fans about his return in 2022 because if he didn’t, he would look terrible.
With that said, you can understand why Thurman is warning fans about his return. By speaking publicly, it gives him the pressure he needs to keep his word in order to continue his career.
The average boxer doesn’t need that pressure to get back to work, but apparently, it’s a different story for Thurman. He’s ready for life as a millionaire and he doesn’t have the same survival-oriented needs as the average person.
Once ready to fight the champions
“Maybe at some point, it’s going to be a real fight,” Thurman said. “I am ready to go back to work. I’m ready to join the champions. I love great battles. I’m ready for Crawford. I’m ready for Spence.
“I just want to go back and shake it off. Just a little dust, a little rust, and then we’ll shine again, baby. I’m waking up, and I’ll wake you up.
“You will see. Keith Thurman is coming back. I’m coming back. I don’t care how long I have to be here, and I don’t care how long I have to work. I don’t care how much sleep I get. It’s not important.
“Shawn Porter announced his retirement, that came home. It’s hard to stay in this game for a long time when you’ve been running in the ring like we’ve been running in the ring since we were kids.
“But I missed so much action, I’m starving. I’m licking my lips, man. I’m starving out here. Now, it’s time. Just that time. If they don’t want to get in on the work, I’ll take some jobs next year.
“Your guy will be back to work next year, somehow, somehow. I’m fighting more. It’s for you, the fans, and the network,” Thurman said.
If Thurman is really serious about his comeback, and returns to the ring with an opponent adjusting to get rid of the rust and slowly move towards a title shot, possibly against Crawford, Errol Spence or Yordenis Ugas.
But with Thurman saying he wants a slam against WBO welterweight champion Crawford in his next bout in mid-2022, it makes it clear that this is just a money game.
In other words, Thurman is carrying out a bank heist by fighting Crawford on PPV for millions of dollars more in his bank account before disappearing again.
