“I’m too big and strong” for Tank Davis
Via Dan Ambrose: Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero predicts he will knock out smaller boxer Gerovnta ‘Tank’ Davis to his size on May 28 to score a quick knockdown in their title fight on Showtime PPV at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Rolly (14-0, 12 KOs) believes this is the first of two fights against ‘regular’ WBA lightweight champion Tank Davis (26-0.24 KOs) on Showtime. He feels that after defeating Tank, there will be a rematch, and he will do the same.
Given Rolly’s size and punching power, you have to take him seriously because he has the frame to do the job on a 5’5 1/2″ Tank. When Rolly is rehydrated, he is. looks as big as any heavyweight.
I don’t know how he was able to hit the 135 lb weight limit because he’s huge for the department. No one gave Rolly a chance, but the situation was similar with Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz.
“God, I’m too big and too strong for him. I’m twice his size, and on top of that, I punch harder, faster and I’m a better boxer than him,” Rolly Romero told Schmo about his fight with Gervonta Davis on May 28.
“Whatever he says, it’s the truth. He is fighting an uphill battle. No, no, no, he takes me very seriously,” Rolly continued on Tank. “He’s over there practicing.
“He’s probably in the best shape of his life, but it doesn’t make a difference. He’ll be put on a damn tarp.
“He has twice as many fights as I do, so obviously, he’s a more popular fighter, you know?” Rolly said when asked why the judges chose him as the favorite.
“At the end of it, boxing and odds became popular competitions. We just saw what happened to Canelo. I’m pretty sure I have more ways to get the *** out of the Tank than Bivol does to get the *** out of the Canelo.
“Nothing but stars. I will go up, and the future will be bright. You’ll see this,” said Rolly when asked what his future holds if he successfully defeats Gervonta on May 28.
“I don’t care about Devin Haney. I think he’s a terrible fighter, and I think he’s a fat fighter. I think he’s very weak compared to everyone on the team, and I hope that Kambosos knocks him out.
“I will take down Tank for the second time. I don’t think *** about this. The seller is me. I don’t need them. They need me. The only reason I’m in this position is because they need me because I’m in sales. I am a famous martial artist.
“I would do it again because he is a famous boxer. The only famous boxer that will make me a bigger star is me and Ryan. I think it’s too early. Me and Ryan will fight in the welterweight division. Yeah, down the line, you’ll see,” said Rolly.
