It’s been six many years since Persona 5 explodes on the PlayStation console in a riot of red, white and black. It was a fixed date firmly in my mind, like Persona 5 was released for a year on my disability. At a time of incredible upheaval, its relationships, its personal story, and its playtime-filled anger have helped me face major life changes. mine.
Now its extended version, Persona 5 Royal, originally released in 2019, is getting next-generation ports. On the one hand, I’m trying to access again Persona 5, my feelings about it are very strong. On the other hand, I’m excited that more people will play a game that not only changes the way I relate to video games, but also reminds me how much friendship means when I’ve lost it all.
When the game released on Xbox Series X and S, Switch, PS5 and PC for the first time, I wanted to share the importance of Persona 5 for me and how it rescued me from the isolation of people’s indifference towards disability. It’s a sensitive topic and I might not be able to communicate without the passage of time. But for me, Persona 5 show the impact of playing the game.
Life will change
Much as Persona 5The protagonist’s silent protagonist is haunted by the events that forced him to go to Tokyo, I vividly recall the moment my life changed. Wednesday, February 18, 2015. A few minutes after 8 p.m., I was lying in bed watching YouTube after work. Suddenly I felt a cold sensation on the top of my head and the impression that an elastic band was being tightened around my skull.
As my health began to deteriorate, friends became uncertain about how to respond to an illness that did not go into remission. Days, weeks, months passed without improvement. The doctors were confused, then disinterested. I am a mystery, and contrary to what you see on television, medical professionals often would rather ignore mysteries than try to solve them.
I was taken back to my family home, and disinterest was evident from all quarters. If I don’t get better and don’t die, then I’m just… useless. To my family and doctors, I am a dishonest burden. Why don’t I continue with it? Push over? Why pretend to be sick?
To friends, I became an obligation for a while, until I was no more. Traveling 100 miles away may keep me from reaching my friends, but the emotional pits of their indifference are even unexplored.
At Persona 5 was released, everyone went. Ghost into a void created by the invisibility of my illness. To them, I had disappeared from someone who seemed to possess boundless energy that suddenly disappeared. Unable to leave home because of the pain, fatigue and seemingly never-ending migraines, I don’t travel anywhere, and as a reminder of the changing health of people, I can’t convince them to come to me.
Isolated, distrustful, and forced to conceal my illness, I did not feel in control of my own truth.
Into that maelstrom has come Persona 5A game that surrounds the player with companions assisting in the battle against adults possessed by the indifference, entitlement, and desire for control of the elderly.
