Some of them are in serious condition. The forces had no choice but to open fire, in which 5 villagers were killed.
An initial Information Report filed by police mentioned that the army “blatantly opened fire on the vehicle without any provocation”.
“It should be noted that at the time of the incident, neither the police nor the security forces requisitioned the police station to guide the police’s activities. Therefore, the intention of the force is clear. security forces are killing and injuring civilians,” read a copy of the FIR accessed by NDTV.
In its preliminary report, the police also said the villagers went to the place heard gunshots and spotted the Special Forces trying to hide the corpses by transferring them to another pickup truck. The sources said the bodies were found under a tarp, adding that this angered the villagers and sparked an outbreak of violence.
Military sources denied that the army was trying to hide or dispose of any bodies.
Military sources also said that the unit of Task Force 21 Para had returned to base and a Court of Inquiry had been ordered, led by a Major General. Sources say there are no changes to the 21 SF’s command structure at this time.
In a statement yesterday, the military expressed regret over “the incident and its consequences” and, in a statement, promised to investigate “at the highest level and take appropriate action … in accordance with due process.” under the law”.
Prosecution of the men involved in fraudulent activity can only happen after the government imposes sanctions. The military has yet to receive any police requests for questioning against the men.
