India increased nearly 15% exports of agricultural products, processed foods in April-October
New Delhi: India recorded a spike in exports of agricultural products and processed foods for the April-October period of the current fiscal year 2021-22 (FY22), compared with the corresponding seven-month period of previous fiscal year (FY21).
According to the Quick Estimates released by the Directorate General of Statistics and Trade Intelligence (DGCI&S) on Friday, overall exports of Agricultural products and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority of Processed Products ( APEDA) saw 14.7% growth in US dollar terms in April-October this year compared to the same period of the previous financial year.
APEDA operates under the Ministry of Trade.
Total exports of APEDA products increased from $10.157 million to $11.651 million, it added.
Rice exports recorded an increase of 10.5% in the first 7 months of fiscal year 22.
Export of fresh fruits and vegetables increased by 11.6%; while shipments of processed food products such as cereal products and other processed items reported 29% growth.
The country reported a significant increase in exports of other grains by 85.4% while exports of meat, dairy and poultry products increased by 15.6%.
Cashew nut exports have seen a growth of 29.2% in the April-October 2021 period.
