Friday’s match that was supposed to be played in Manchester last September was only delayed a few hours before the scheduled start because of Covid-19 concerns at the India camp.

“Rohit Sharma, captain, Indian Cricket Team is excluded from the Thursday Test scheduled with England to be played from Friday. Rohit underwent the RAT Test on Thursday morning and returned a positive result. counted with COVID-19”, the BCCI notice reads.
“All India Senior Selection Committee has appointed Jasearch Bumrah as captain for the upcoming Test and Rishabh Pant as his deputy,” the statement added.
