Indian exporters with large orders due to the Russo-Ukrainian war: Nitin Gadkari
Kolkata:
Trade unions minister Nitin Gadkari said that due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, Indian exporters are having to place large orders as logistics costs rise sharply.
He said exporters are concerned about the availability of containers and port-related issues.
“Because of these complexities, the industry is not able to take advantage of orders from such large exporters,” the Road Transport Secretary said while speaking before an industry event.
Mr. Gadkari said the country must reduce its dependence on crude oil, which is the daily need of the industry, and opt for alternative fuels such as green hydrogen.
He added that the government is in the process of establishing 35 multimodal logistics zones (MMLPs), which will make the Indian export sector more competitive in the international market.
The minister announced that the parks will be developed on a public-private partnership basis with an investment of Rs 46,000 crore.
