Instagram may soon allow posting of longer videos up to 60 seconds as stories
Instagram has begun testing a major update to its Stories platform, allowing users to post 60-second videos as Stories. This feature was discovered by an Instagram user in Turkey. Currently, any video longer than 15 seconds will automatically be split into multiple Stories when posted. The photo sharing app recently improved on the newly introduced Link Stickers feature by adding custom text and color options. The Meta-owned platform also started rolling out Instagram Badges last month, allowing creators to monetize their followers.
As discovered by social media consultant Matt Navarra, Instagram has begun notifying some users of the change. As mentioned, any video longer than 15 seconds that is being shot or uploaded as an Instagram Story is now split into different 15-second Stories. This causes inconvenience for users especially when tagging users in Stories. The new change will bring about a change in the situation. The new update in this feature could be an attempt to beat rivals like Snapchat and TikTok.
Instagram already has recently improved that is newly introduced Link the Sticker feature by adding custom text and color options. Users who currently want to share links on Stories can write personalized text through these stickers – instead of just sharing a URL – in Instagram Stories. The option to customize the color combination of the stickers will allow users to post Stories with improved link visibility against different images and backgrounds.
Social media companies have also start rolling out Instagram Badge in November. Badge allows users to show support for a creator in a Live video on the platform. Users 18 years of age or older with more than 10,000 followers in select regions will be able to use the Instagram Badge. Once purchased, Badges will appear with comments during the Live performance.
