Jaden Smith Wins Fashion Week in a Mirrored Crop Top
It’s a top cover Paris Fashion Week and generally Fashion Month. Louis Vuitton ended PFW with a full show of signature house codes and quite stylish front row seats. Louis Vuitton guests and ambassadors – like a YouTube sensation Emma ChamberlainCynthia Erivo of “Wicked”, “House of the Dragon” breakout stars Milly Alcock, and Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas – take their seats when skirts, jackets and suits hit the runway.
One prominent attendee was Jaden Smith. Known for his alternative fashion approach and tendency to defy men’s fashion conventions, Smith chose a Louis Vuitton look from the resort’s 2023 collection for women presented at San Diego earlier this year. And while the look – which combines brown tweed, belt/poncho and the accompanying scalloped top – was shown off the runway with harem pants, Smith chose to pair it with jeans and sneakers Sports New Balance.
For the spring-summer 2023 collection, Louis Vuitton Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière explored “the Maison’s DNA.” It’s a rich collection with surrealist interpretations of buckles, zippers, locks, clasps and the like. A leather dress with a surreal buckle reflects the bags of the French fashion house, as these dresses incorporate elements such as patched leather and exaggerated zipper sewing. The collection, more broadly, explores similarities between hard and soft, with fabrics ranging from supple leather to pleated lace.
These season bags are outstanding. Embodying the garment’s surrealism, there are bags shaped like labels and clasps, ranging in size from oversized to extra-small. There’s even a bag shaped like the house of Monsieur Louis Vuitton in Asnières.
