James Cameron settles Titanic debate about Jack’s fate
When it comes to this debate, we will never let go.
A quarter of a century later Titanic‘s release, the film’s director James Cameron is a long (and scientific!) review of whether Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) would live if he simply climbed the door with Rose (Kate Winslet) when they were stranded at sea after the famous ship sank into the ocean.
In his upcoming series, Titanic: 25 Years Later with James CameronThe famous director enlisted the help of two stuntmen to accurately re-enact the scene in freezing temperatures — and consensus?
James said in a clip shared on Good Morning America February 2. “Jack may have lived, but there are a lot of variables.”
Among those variables were the temperature of the water and the couple’s exhaustion, as well as other conditions. But according to James, there was an element that simply reigned in his character’s mind that led him to an icy ending.
