The House Select Committee investigating the January 6 attack on the US capital consisted of seven Democrats and two Republicans.
It was chaired by Bennie Thompson, a Democrat from Mississippi, a Capitol Hill veteran who also chairs the House committee on homeland security.
Other members are:
Adam Schiff, a Democrat from California, was first elected to the house in 2000. He rose to national prominence as a House prosecutor in the first Senate impeachment trial. of President Donald Trump at the time. He is also the chairman of the House intelligence committee.
Zoe Lofgren, a Democrat from Northern California, has been a member of the House of Representatives since 1995. She was a member of the House judicial committee on the Trump impeachments as well as the 1998 hearings against him. Former President Bill Clinton.
Elaine Luria, a Democrat from Virginia, spent two decades in the US Navy before running for Congress. She serves as a representative for Virginia’s second district, which includes the United States Navy’s largest base at Norfolk.

Stephanie Murphy, a Democrat from Florida, represents the state’s Orlando-based seventh district. A former Pentagon employee who is considered the top moderate in Congress, she recently announced she would not run for re-election this year.
Jamie Raskin, a Democrat from Maryland, is a Harvard Law graduate who led the congressional team of prosecutors in the second impeachment of former president Donald Trump.
Liz Cheney, the top Republican on the panel, who was attacked by pro-Trump factions in her party for participating in the proceedings. The Wyoming lawmaker and the daughter of former vice president Dick Cheney were among the only 10 Republicans to vote to impeach Trump for his role in the attack on the US Capitol.
Adam Kinzinger, a Republican from Illinois who voted with Cheney to impeach Trump for his role in masterminding the Capitol attack. Like Cheney, he became a pariah in the Republican caucus in the House and will not run for re-election in the fall.
