Japan’s Nintendo Direct has a very pleasant surprise announcement
Sometimes, games announced or featured on Nintendo Direct in the West are the same as in Japan. Other times, it’s not until you go back and watch the Japanese video that you realize that it contains news about a New Summer Vacation game.
The Boku no Natsuyasumi series, has been running in Japan for decades, basically a series of games that you play as a child and enjoy a few leisurely weeks during your summer vacation wandering around a town, catching bugs, and generally soaking up the vibes.
The main games in the series were never released in the West until last year, when Shin chan: Me and the professor on summer vacation: Endless seven-day journey dropped on Switch and PC. Like I said at the time, it’s a little of an eccentric because the license placed above the experience ruined the whole thing.
So it’s perhaps no surprise that while there was no mention of the game on the Western Nintendo Direct, the Japanese show there was a trailer for Natsu-Mon: Summer vacation in the 20th centuryA brand new game written and designed by Boku no Natsuyasumi series creator Kaz Ayabe, and developed by his Millennium Kitchen studio.
Seems to go back to the roots of the series, it takes us back to a time like the ’80s or early ’90s, when we played like a 10-year-old, on our days off, doing it all. the things I talked about above: climbing trees, chatting with locals, spotting bugs, dancing.
Will this come to the West? Who knows! I said at my end Shin-Chan Blog that “I can only hope this game sells enough, or at least attracts enough attention, to convince someone to release some older games in English”, but that also applies a lot. for new games!
