Via Charles Brun: Undefeated American heavyweight Jared Anderson wants Dillian Whyte, “slow” Joe Joyce or ‘regular’ WBA champion Daniel Dubois for his next bout.
Anderson feels himself ready to take the scalp of Whyte, Joyce or Dubois after his most recent win. To be fair, Whyte wouldn’t be amused by the idea of fighting Jared for even a second.
Whyte is waiting for a big payday against Anthony Joshua in the summer in a stadium match, and promoter Eddie Hearn is keen to make that match.
Hearn doesn’t seem to care that Whyte looks intimidating in his final two fights with Jermaine Franklin and Tyson Fury. If anything, Whyte’s horribly poor performance may have helped my chance would rather fight against Joshua than hurt them.
Whyte is seen as a loser to Franklin in the eyes of many boxing fans, who feel that he has been made to decide to return to his homeland.
23-year-old Anderson (13-0, 13 KOs) is ready to step up after a stellar second-round knockout win last Jerry Forrest (26-6-2, 20 KOs) on December 10 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
In that fight, Anderson threw an unbelievable hit 111 punches in the first round alone, this is an unprecedented number for a heavyweight. That’s the number that boxers throw in the lighter weight classes.
Even then, it takes a unique fighter to throw that many shots without running out of air and roll up so their opponent can easily pick them up. Anderson looked flowery in the second half after catastrophically bombing Forrest in the first round with 111 shots.
6’4″ Jared stole the program from former unified lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez, who struggled to deliver a controversial 10th half split against Sandor Martin in the main event on the card.
#15 WBC Anderson isn’t ranked high enough to force a duel against Joyce, Whyte or Dubois, as those will need to be pressured to agree to play the highest-ranked Jared. Without a high ranking in the top 5, Anderson has no chance against any of them.
“Hopefully, if he accepts it,” Jared Anderson told fight when asked if he wants to fight Dillian Whyte next. “I definitely tried going abroad to do one of those fights. Daniel Dubois, any of those guys over there, I’d love to fight them.
“I really want to fight him. He fought for the title,” Anderson said when asked if he wanted to fight Joe Joyce. “I don’t see anything? Joe Joyce is slow.
“Dillian Whyte, I saw what he did. Honestly, he really lost the game,” Jared said of Whyte’s final game against American Jermaine Franklin. “I didn’t watch the game, but that’s what I heard, and I know Jermaine Franklin is a dog.
“Daniel Dubois, he’s injured [against Kevin Lerena]. If anything, they can stop the fight for him before they stop the fight for the other guy [Lerena].
“I’m not trying to hear that,” Jared said when informed that Dubois said he injured his ankle in the first round. “Let him [Dubois] into the ring with me in the ring. How about that?
