Via Chris Williams: Jermell Charlo took to social media to blast Terence Crawford, saying he will be taken down by Erickson ‘The Hammer’ Lubin when he rises to 154.
Lubin (24-2, 17 KOs) will be a really tough fight for Crawford as he has the strength and toughness to make it a grueling fight. Crawford won’t be looking to fight a dangerous puncher like Lubin when he moves to 154.
What Crawford will be hoping for is an immediate world title against Charlo without risking the likes of Lubin, Sebastian Fundora, Tim Tszyu or Tony Harrison.

Also, Crawford has just turned 35, he can’t wait two or three years before challenging for a title because he’s getting old. Crawford hasn’t fought in a year since his win over janitor Shawn Porter and he’s only fought once in 2020.

Crawford has been inactive for the past two years, and he will have plenty of rust on his body as he moves up to 154th, looking to take on Charlo for his undisputed championship.
Understandably, Charlo will beat his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska, Crawford because he has the idea in his head that he’ll be moving up to 154 soon, perhaps before the end of the year, to challenge for the undisputed championship.
If Crawford can’t negotiate a bout with IBF, WBA & WBO welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr, he’ll use his 147-lb WBO title to get #1 at 154 to challenge. with Jermell for his WBO belt.
There is still controversy over whether a fight between Spence and Crawford will take place as talks today have stalled. According to ESPN, Crawford wants transparency regarding event costs. If he can’t get what he wants, the fight with Spence probably won’t happen. Crawford would then probably rise to 154 instead of staying at 147 and risk evading Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis.
Undisputed young middleweight champion Jermell (35-1-1, 19 KOs) asked, “Who did he knock out?” The only notable boxers whose 35-year-old Crawford (38-0.29 KOs) has stopped in his 14-year professional career are Kell Brook and Shawn Porter.
