Joe Joyce hits back at Anthony Joshua
Via Scott Gilfoid: Joe Joyce fired back at Anthony Joshua today in response to his bragging about beating him in a back round in the amateurs years ago before he developed into the heavyweight he is today. .
Unbeatable Joyce (13-0, 12 KOs) called Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) a “Glass cannon” It’s a “for everything.”
The comment about Joshua having been given “everything” was clearly a shot at his 2012 Olympic gold medal, in which he appeared to have lost twice in the competition in a bout with Roberto Cammarelle in the final and Erislandy Savon.
Many boxing fans believe that Joshua should have lost the fight with Ivan Dychko as well as during the Olympics that took place in London, England that year.
Gilfoid let Joshua lose to Cammarelle, Dychko, Savon and Zhang Zhilei at the 2012 Olympics. Joshua was a complete mess, having grown tired and beaten by those fighters. The battle between Savon and Cammarelle was clearly lost to Joshua, and it was pathetic that Joshua had to raise his hand.
As a pro, Joshua found success in the first six years of his career, but he’s struggled since losing to Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019 and has looked like a walker since there. At this point, it’s clear Joshua is just a shadow of the boxer he once was, and he will be beaten by many of the top 5 in the tournament.
In Joshua’s final bout, he was unequivocally defeated by underrated heavyweight Oleksandr Usyk last September in London. This was supposed to be an easy match for Joshua, as Usyk had narrowly lost to British cruiser Dereck Chisora in the previous bout.
Usyk’s study of Joshua wasn’t because he was a great heavyweight. That’s because Joshua was shot at this point, and ruined by a knock-out loss to Ruiz in 2019.
At this point, almost everyone was a threat to Joshua, and Joyce may end her career on the spot if AJ makes the mistake of using him as a makeshift fight while he waits for Usyk.
And @anthonyjoshua you’re having trouble, where are all your belts? Do all those sponsorships and endorsements help? You are a glass cannon, give up the action, you have been given everything. #easy mode https://t.co/4A3CCdQ3y9

Joe Joyce: “I used to respect that @McGuigans_Gym. I withdraw all. You have no respect for what I have achieved and will achieve. I’m glad I didn’t check in with your @ClonesCyclone family. Tell your son to wrap his neck and focus on removing the DDD from his knees,” Joe Joyce said on Twitter.
Shane McGuigan: “As long as he doesn’t lose that rematch clause [for Oleksandr Usyk fight], that’s great for him. His confidence is going down. If you’re with someone like Joe Joyce, he’s going to beat Joe Joyce,’ Shane told Boxing Social of Joshua.
“He will hit him. I didn’t even think it was going to be three or four rounds because he knocked him out twice in the amateur world. He is so confident that he will beat him.
“It’s a good position for Anthony Joshua to get back into the mix. Not only in the combination but also at the top, the feeling of invincibility. That’s what he needs to do because he’s an aggressive offensive fighter.
“He has been trying to complicate things for too long. Let’s get out. Joe Joyce won’t let you do things that are too complicated. He’s right in front of you and you have to let go.
“And if he does, he’s way too fast for Joe Joyce and he’ll probably beat him and knock him out. If that’s the case, his confidence is sky-high and he will go into the rematch against Usyk with a lot of confidence. So I think that’s a good thing.” McGuigan said.
Had Joshua fought Joyce right outside the gate in 2013, he might have battered him for a quick knockout.
However, no more. Joshua has aged, his stamina and chin are gone, as is his confidence in himself. Trust me, none of that will ever come back at this point. If Hearn was smart, he would stand on his hind legs and tell Joshua uncertainly that he would NOT let him get anywhere near Joyce.
