John Ryder on Canelo Alvarez: “I’ll Surprise Him”
Via Sean Jones: John Ryder went into the game against Canelo Alvarez on Saturday with no pressure on him as fans and bettors expected he would lose.
That’s what Ryder (32-5, 18 KOs) benefits him. He will “surprise” Canelo (58-2-2, 39 KOs) and took away his four super middleweight titles this Saturday, May 6, in their first match on the DAZN PPV at Estadio Akron, in Guadalajara , Mexico.
It will be a shock for some boxing fans to see Canelo lose, but if you look at his chances of being beaten in 2022, it makes sense for him to lose to Ryder . Canelo, 32, is having the worst year of his career, and he’s lucky he hasn’t lost both of his games.
Alvarez was learned by Dmitry Bivol last May and could easily have been beaten by the lackluster Gennadiy Golovkin if GGG hadn’t given him too much respect in the first half of the match.
“I’m so excited to fight a legend, I’m here for my legacy, Oneand i will surprise him,” Ryder said of Canelo.
Canelo enters this match with a perfect 7-0 record against the British boxer, and if he beats Ryder, he will be 8-0. Ryder wants to break Canelo’s impeccable record by beating him in front of his fans in Guadalajara on Saturday.
If Ryder has fought Canelo in the past, it is likely that his record will be 6-1 against the British as his fighting style is theoretically kryptonite for the Mexican star.
The only question is whether Ryan can use Canelo’s powers to knock him down like Bivol did. It’s a magical question because Ryder will be standing right in front of Canelo during the fight and he won’t be hard to hit.

Marquez criticizes Canelo’s selection of opponents
Juan Manuel Marquez said to ESPN is expelled about Ryder.
“When you are world champion, you have to go up against anyone, Mexican or European,” said Márquez.
Canelo shoots back
“[Márquez] always jealous, but his words don’t affect me and I don’t take them into account,” “Canelo” added.
“That’s part of this, there’s always been criticism of this step, and there’s continued to be criticism,” Canelo told The Associated Press. “It’s a split between those who ‘hate’ and those who support me, fortunately, there’s more to it.”
