John Ryder still wants to fight Golovkin, ready to face him in Kazakhstan
JOHN RYDER still wants to play Gennadiy Golovkin and is happy to take the corner again.
Ryder’s name is on ‘s profile now Canelo Alvarez after a lucky performance against Mexico in Guadalajara last month. While the Englishman may have lost overnight, he has also come a long way with a living legend of the sport who was expected to eliminate Ryder very soon.
Ryder’s bravery and courage coupled with his ability to cause some trouble for Canelo now places his name on the list of other promoters around the world.
His manager, Charlie Sims, is said to be in discussions with Jaime Munguia’s team about another challenge in Mexico for Ryder but Golovkin’s appeal still appeals to the British super-middleweight. Ryder said he is happy to take on the great ‘GGG’ in his native Kazakhstan.
Ryder told ProBox TV: “I’d love to, I’ve proven that I’ll go anywhere.
“I went there and played against Canelo, who I am a big fan of, and Golovkin was no exception. I have been a huge fan of his since I first turned pro, he has quietly appeared on smaller shows in Germany and won boxing in the United States. .
“He is a great champion, [been in] Great combat obviously. He’s had three fights with Canelo himself. i think he [GGG] win first. The other two are like that, but he’s a great fighter, has done great things, and I’ve been lucky enough to meet him, and he’s a great guy.”
Rumors of Golovkin retirement after his second loss to Canelo 10 months ago have never been confirmed. At 41 and already having a successful career, there’s nothing left for modern-day greats to prove. Ryder and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, will be hoping they can tempt the fearsome puncher to get his hands on his 46.lame pants battle.
