Juarez enters the Global Running Challenge
Jockey Nik Juarez is using his passion for running to raise awareness and raise funds for two charities, the Jockey Permanently Disability Foundation and Team Foster.
The 4 x 4 x 48 Run challenge requires participants to run four miles, every four hours for 48 hours. Juarez is looking to secure funding for every 12 scheduled runs. Along with sharing content on social media and offering an optional monetary donation, sponsors can offer their logo and/or outfit to wear in each of the 12 runs. .
“I am a professional thoroughbred jockey and know the risks of this profession. I love the sport and have the opportunity to work with horses every day. Unfortunate injury will occur. For most of us, we’re going to rehab and get back to riding again,” Juarez said. “But for others with serious injuries, such as paralysis and traumatic brain injury, they will not be able to return to riding. It is these men and women that the PDJF supports and I want them to know that they are not forgotten and, as a jockey, I am honored to run for them. ”
Juarez is looking to donate a total of $48,000 or $1,000 for every mile he runs for charity. However, if that goal is reached before the end of the 48 hours, he wants to run further, one mile for each of the 58 permanently disabled runners currently supported by the PDJF.
