The German club said the flat fee would be 103 million euros ($110 million), plus variables that could amount to more than 30 million euros ($32 million).
Dortmund said in a statement to the stock exchange that contract details still had to be “coordinated and completed” and that the transfer had to be “handled properly and promptly in accordance with FIFA regulations”.
The 19-year-old versatile England midfielder will join a Madrid squad that currently has veterans Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in midfield, as well as Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde, Dani Ceballos and Aurelien Tchouameni.
Bellingham’s three seasons at Dortmund are coming to an end after the team missed out on the German championship to Bayern Munich due to goal difference. Bellingham played a key role in the title challenge but was not used as a substitute in the final decisive game against Mainz following a knee injury.
