Just like her husband King Charles III, Queen Camilla also has a new royal emblem
A lot of things have changed after The passing of Queen Elizabeth IIwho is Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, including the promotion of some members of the royal family.
While Prince Charles became the new monarch and is now referred to as King Charles IIIHis wife, Camilla – who was the Duchess of Cornwall – was known as Queen Consort. As such, she now has a new icon, just like her husband.
According to a People Reportedly, the 75-year-old has revealed a “special cypher” that has been designed in her honor since she was promoted. According to the report, Buckingham Palace – the monarch’s official London residence – confirmed Monday that the insignia is Camilla’s “personal property”, chosen by her from a range of designs.
Similar to her husband’s, Camilla’s cape also features a monogram placed underneath an ornate crown. There’s ‘CR’ written, which represents Camilla’s first ‘C’, and the ‘R’ which stands for ‘Regina’, which means ‘queen’ in Latin.
Similarly, Charles’ cypher keeps the first letter of his name starting with ‘C’ and has the letter ‘R’ for ‘Rex’ – ‘king’ in Latin. There are also Roman numerals three or three.
The publication mentions that the insignia will be used by the queen consort on all personal titles, stationery, cards and gifts. It has been created by Professor Ewan Clayton, calligrapher at the Department and Academic Council of the Royal School of Drawing, in collaboration with Timothy Noad, Herald Painter and Scrivener at The College of Arms.
Meanwhile, it should be noted that the new sovereign’s emblem replaces that of Queen Elizabeth II, who has been on the throne for more than 70 years. She badge is ‘ER II’ – for ‘Elizabeth Regina’.
