Kambosos has a good time going home
New IBF, WBA, WBO and WBC Franchise lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr said he plans to bring big boxing to Australia following a stunning win over Teofimo Lopez.
Kambosos mocked his pre-match beat card by knocking and eliminating Teofimo Lopez in New York last month.
After not participating in a match in Australia since 2017, Kambosos insists any lightweight name that wants to shoot him must return to his home ground. WBC champion Devin Haney has confirmed that he would be willing to do so.
Kambosos told Fox Sports: “It was an important moment for everyone around me – an important moment for Australia. “This is huge. I had to go and really earn it.
“I’ve had to go back to the court many times and beat this guy at his peak and in his hometown, no Australian has ever done that before. So these belts mean a lot and they mean a lot to our whole country.”
“A Great War [is coming] and we’re going to bring that to a big stadium, 80,000 people. Haney, Davis, Lomachenko, Garcia – all will get there! ”
