Kambosos says the winner between Haney vs. JoJo Diaz Jr. face him in Australia Boxing News 24
Via Sean Jones: Newly crowned IBF, WBA, WBC Franchise & WBO lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr. is now calling the shots, told the winner of the December 4 game between WBC 135-lb champion Devin Haney and Joseph ‘JoJo’ Diaz Jr. that they have to go to Australia if they want a chance to fight for his four titles.
Kambosos (20-0, 10 KOs) finds himself in a position 800-pound gorillas to call the shots after his decisive 12-round win over previously undefeated undisputed lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez (16-1, 12 KOs) last Saturday night in Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The sudden pick up of four titles gives Kambosos instant credibility he didn’t have before his victory over Teofimo.
Prior to his fight with Teofimo, Kambosos was considered another obscure boxer that many boxing fans had never heard of and was not seen as a threat to the upper echelons of the lightweight.
You could argue that Kambosos took advantage of a rusted, weight-reduced ring from Teofimo, who looked sluggish from last Saturday night’s get-g0, perhaps feeling the effects of the break It took 13 months and due to a lot of water weight loss to get down to the 135 lb weight limit.
Interestingly, after the fight, Teofimo’s dad announced that Teo would increase to 140 because it was too hard for him to make 135.
WBC Calls Kambosos “Undisputed Champion”

“I believed that I would shock the world and win everything. I put on a high level performance,” Kambosos told IFL TV.
“100%,” Kambosos said when asked if he would like to fight the winner of the December 4 match between WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney and Joseph ‘JoJo’ Diaz Jr. “I am here to fight the best.
“The fans can do it if they want to see it, but they have to come see me in Australia. I had to earn my stripes, and I had to go into the yard year after year, fighting one game after another.
“Three consecutive champions. Mickey Bey’s backyard. Lee Selby’s backyard and champion’s backyard are undisputed in front of hostile mobs.
“I beat him, and I deserved to have a match back home in Australia in front of 80,000 people. And I tell you now; We’re going to fill that stadium, and it’s going to be something very special. Now we will relax,” said Kambosos.
WBC’s decision to create the Franchise title reduced the value of their usual WBC champion at 135, making it a less important and no longer relevant belt.
Let’s say the WBC will call Kambosos the undisputed champion in lightweight without him holding the regular belt. In that case, Devin Haney’s WBC title is essentially a belt of lesser value.
In that case, Haney might as well throw the strap in the bin and go with the Kambosos Franchise belt because that’s the title the sanctioning agency takes seriously.
Teofimo: ‘I’m the Emperor’

It was a little early for Kambosos to declare himself emperor of the light division. Beating Teofimo is a good start, but he has a lot more to do to become the #1 boxer at the age of 135.

Kambosos doesn’t care about its brand
“Whatever it is, it doesn’t bother me. I have all the belts. I am the world champion, and I am the king of the lower divisions and the world champion,” Kambosos said when asked if he is the undisputed champion at the age of 135.

There will be more money for Kambosos if he beats WBC lightweight champion Haney to become the undisputed champion in its own right.
It’s something the World Boxing Council calls Kambosos the undisputed 135 lb champion. However, he won’t be considered a true four-belt champion until he beats the winner of a match between Haney and Joseph ‘JoJo’ Diaz Jr. to win the regular WBC belt.
