Karnataka Congress, DK Shivakumar: Worship only for the party
Bengali language:
The congress faced shameful scenes in Bengaluru on Tuesday after employees loyal to a local leader gathered for a rival’s swearing-in ceremony and caused a commotion. so far as to prevent senior leader and former Minister Siddaramaiah from delivering his speech.
This prompted angry DK Shivakumar, the head of the state unit of Parliament, to step in, reprimand the ‘aggressors’ and warn them to suspend.
Mr. Shivakumar stated: “I will ask you to be removed from the office of Parliament. You should get rid of all this thug. No (personal) worship is allowed here … here it is only worshiped. worship the party of the National Assembly,” said Mr. Shivakumar.
Mr Shivakumar’s words did not appear to have much effect, with videos showing party workers chanting slogans that continued to make them heard, even as Siddaramaiah struggled to speak.
The incident happened as Abdul Jabbar was sworn in as the head of the minority faction of the Karnataka Parliament in a grand ceremony at the Palace.
However, Jabbar, it soon appeared, wasn’t everyone’s choice.
Supporters of former Ethnic Minorities Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan rushed into the ceremony with placards and shouted ‘Zameer, Zameer’.
Mr. Khan, who was invited to the event, was not satisfied with the appointment of Abdul Jabbar and as a result, he was absent. The event was attended by UP Parliament leader Imran Pratapgarhi.
Parliament of Karnataka and Mr. Shivakumar faced greater embarrassment last month, after a video about two state leaders discuss corruption allegations about his part was tweeted by BJP’s Amit Malviya.
Former MP VS Ugrappa and media coordinator MA Salim were seen talking to each other before a press conference; The conversation referred to the “adjustment (from six eight percent to 12 percent)” by Mr Shivakumar and one of his aides, who “made about 50-100 crores”.
Mr. Shivakumar did not deny the conversation took place, but denied the allegations.
