Kayleigh McEnany Credits Trump for Ukraine Weapons, Completely Ignores Him Withholding Them
Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany spoke out on Monday about former President Donald Trump’s approval of arms sales to Ukraine, while conveniently ignoring his withholding of nearly $400 million in aid to the country in the past year. efforts to help his re-election campaign.
Appearing on Sean Hannity’s Fox News program, a former Trump administration official reacted to how Ukraine’s military could frustrate Russia’s efforts to capture Kyiv. Despite those successes, according to US intelligence, Russian President Putin are likely planning siege and then capture the capital city, setting up the potential for a protracted skirmish.
Other countries, Hannity said, are “trying to get to the bottom of the game” when it comes to weapons supplies. “I imagine that the next wave of attacks will probably be extremely serious. I hope I’m wrong,” he added.
“I hope you’re wrong too,” McEnany replied. “But guess who supplied that lethal weapon long before that manifesto was announced. It was President Trump who did it! He gave Ukraine weapons. President Biden was behind the number 8 ball.”
In 2018, Trump Registered on the sale of 210 Javelin anti-tank missiles and 37 launchers to Ukraine worth $47 million. But when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he wanted to buy more Javelins next year, Trump withheld nearly $400 million in aid authorized by Congress while he pressurize the peer to notify an investigation into Joe Biden and his son Hunter. US Government Accountability Office see that The Trump administration broke the law by withholding this aid. Trump was impeached for this, but was ultimately acquitted by the GOP-controlled Senate.
None of this stopped McEnany from praising her former boss, who earlier the same day had also sought to strengthen his role in Ukraine’s military showing patience in the face of the Russian attack.
“…[I]Not that I brought Ukraine anti-tank tanks (Javelins) that were so effective when the previous Administration was sending blankets,” Trump said in a statement. “Let History Take It!”
McEnany played his part in delivering this message. And to be fair, neither she nor Trump is likely to lose sleep because of the fact that it lacks some necessary context.
