Kia Australia is yet to confirm whether we will be taking delivery of both the sedan and hatchback, as we are currently doing with the Cerato, when the new generation small car arrives here. Expected in the first quarter of 2025.
The company is also yet to confirm its local powertrain lineup.
Revealed earlier this year, the K4 will be offered with a pair of gasoline engines in markets like the US.
The basic motive is one 2.0 liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine do 110kW power and 179Nm of torque. It drives the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission intended to simulate a traditional automatic transmission.
In the GT-Line Turbo there is a more powerful engine option Four 1.6 liter turbocharged pots Implementation in progress 142kW And 264Nm. This also drives the front wheels, but gets an eight-speed automatic transmission instead.
Notably, Kia will offer both the GT-Line 2.0 liter and GT-Line Turbo 1.6T in the US. Both will come with multi-link rear suspension instead of torsion bar rear like the smaller K4s.
Kia in the US also said it is considering a hybrid variant.
This could be the same drive system as can be found in the related section Hyundai i30 Sedan: 1.6 liter 4-cycle Atkinson engine with a capacity of 77kW and 147Nm, combined with a 32kW/170Nm electric motor for a total system output of 104kW and 265Nm.
The i30 Sedan Hybrid uses a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Inside, the K4 uses Kia's new generation ccNC infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless connectivity and a voice assistant activated by saying “Hey Kia”.
The touchscreen and digital instrument cluster sit side by side in a wide cluster.
GT-Line exclusive Onyx/Off-White interior colors such as Medium Grey, Slate Blue and Black White are available.
The Kia K4 has a sedan shape, 4710mm long and 1850mm wide on a 2720mm wheelbase. That makes it 70mm longer and 50mm wider than the current Cerato sedan with a 20mm longer wheelbase.
GT-Line models feature unique front and rear styling with cube LED elements in the headlights, satin chrome beltline, gloss black accents and other detail changes.
Available safety equipment on the K4 includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, as well as adaptive cruise control with stop/go feature, blind spot assist, lane keeping assist, intelligent speed limit assist and rear cross-traffic assist.
There's also Kia's Blind Spot Monitoring feature along with a surround-view camera.
