King Charles Palace Intrigue ‘Like a Trick From the Middle Ages’
Jokes in court
A senior courtier bypassed official procedures while King Charles III are recovering from cancer treatment for their candidacy to be appointed to a senior role, Mail on Sunday declared.
The appointment is now being overturned after the plot was compared to what was going on at a medieval court, the newspaper said. Garter King Of Arms David White is said to have contacted the king directly, nominating the candidate while Charles was in London undergoing cancer treatment, and staff were ordered not to disturb him.
A source told Mail on Sunday: “It's like a trick from the Middle Ages. There was a big controversy backstage. Some people believe that David White deliberately approached Charles behind their backs so he could get his preferred candidate into the role. What David may not have realized was that the King was tired. In other words, he is at his most vulnerable, which is why proper protocol is needed.”
The Mail on Sunday alleges that White obtained his letter of introduction before the king by giving it to the husband of one of his assistants who was working for the king. When contacted by MoS by phone, White declined to comment, but the newspaper accused him of making incriminating comments after thinking he had hung up. Buckingham Palace reportedly declined to comment.
