Knicks Go Named Top Nurturing Person in Maryland of 2021

GI Breeders ‘Cup Classic’ Winner Knicks Go (Payer) was named the Maryland Hybrid of the Year 2021 during the fifth annual Renaissance Awards Ceremony held most of the week of February 28. The award, which is a collaborative effort between the Breeders’ Association. Maryland Horses, the Maryland Thoroughbred Breeders Association and the Maryland Jockey Club, were featured through the MHBA’s social media accounts.
Also honored as 2 year old male champion Joe (Declaration of War), fat 2 year old champion Luna Belle (Great idea), 3 year old male champion Jaxon Tourist (Munnings), the fat 3-year-old champion Street Lute (Street magician), elder female champion Hi, beauty (Golden Lad), the field champion Field Pass (Lemon Drop Kid), and champion sprinter Hello West (Spin hard).
The late Robert T. Manfuso and Katharine M. Voss, the breeders of the 2021 Maryland State Championship sprinter Aloha West, were awarded the Maryland Breeders of the Year title, while their Island Bound mare. , Aloha West’s dam, was named the Maryland Broodmare of the Year, and Northview Stallion Station’s Great Notion took home the Maryland Stallion of the Year title for the sixth year in a row.
Other award winners for 2021 include Hillwood Stable LLC, Owner of the Year in Maryland; Brittany Russell, Coach of the Year at Maryland; Jevian Toledo, Equestrian of the Year in Maryland. Julio Garcia was named Employee of the Year at Pimlico Backstretch, while Antoinette Charles Orellana won Laurel Backstretch Employee of the Year.
