Lathicharge police in March candlelight in Lucknow to break up the protest
Lucknow:
Lucknow police today broke up a candlelit march by a group of organizers of a lengthy protest over alleged irregularities in the 2019 Uttar Pradesh exam to recruit 69,000 assistant teachers in the state. A group of protesters were trying to march from a prominent intersection in central Lucknow to the residence of State Premier Yogi Adityanath when police charged them with stopping the demonstration.

The Samajwadi Party posted a video of the incident on its social media, a short clip showing police beating a group of people and giving chase as they fled. The party tweeted, condemning the “brutal behavior” of the police against “peaceful protesters”.
