Lincoln Riley leaves Oklahoma to become head coach of USC soccer team, sources say
Lincoln Riley Says He Won’t Leave Oklahoma because the LSU.
He didn’t say he wouldn’t leave the Sooners because USC.
In a stunning move on Sunday, Riley, 38, accepted the head coach position at USC, according to ESPN and multiple reports. He replaces former Trojans coach Clay Helton, who was fired in September after hitting a 46-24 record in seven seasons.
Riley guided the Sooners to four consecutive Big 12 titles and three College Football knockouts in his first four seasons. Oklahoma was dropped from the Big 12 championship game after losing 37-33 at Oklahoma State on Saturday night.
Following Bedlam’s loss, after much speculation that he was LSU’s choice to replace the departed Ed Orgeron, Riley said, “I’m not going to be the next head coach at LSU.”
It was a huge blow to the Sooners, who were about to move to the SEC. Riley had a 55-10 record over five seasons, including a 37-7 record in the Big 12.
